Born June 20, 1935, in Minonk to Francis D. "Frank" amd Eugenia Labens Stachewicz, he married Judith M. Kosciolek on June 26, 1960, in Chicago Heights. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, William (and Kathleen) of Straudsburgh, Pa.; one daughter, Lisa (and Mark) EIlers of Chillicothe; three brothers, Joseph of Las Vegas, John (and Nancy) of Lacon and Anthony (and Nina) of Pearl City; three sisters, Jeanette (and Earl) Kuebleer of Eureka, Patricia Brown of Techachapi, Calif., and Eloise (and Jim) Bennett of Cornell; and four grandchildren.

He attended Northern Illinois University.

He was a former postmaster and car salesman, retiring in 1997.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Third Degree Council 2405 in Henry, serving as grand knight.

He also was a member of the Fourth Degree Spaulding Council 0206 in Peoria, serving as faithful navigator, and was in the Henry Rotary Club,

He was on the board of directors at Citizens Bank in Henry.

Cremation has been accorded. A funeral Mass will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Henry, where visitation will be one hour before. The Revs. John Verrier and Neri Greskoviak will officiate. Henry Funeral Home, Downtown Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
